Entitled: “Bagong Simula; Bagong Ikaw; Bagong Pilipinas”, CSI’s 2-part seminar last July 15 and 16 was well attended not only by Filipinos, but also diverse and multicultural groups–mostly F1 and J1 international students. This was a great way for CSI to reach out to other audiences that may need its service in the aim of providing knowledge and opportunities to immigrant hopefuls in America. Aside from the usual reintroduction of CSI’s scope of services and reports on recent events, additional topics on cultural immersion and U.S. workforce were discussed; and the recently implemented interview simulation workshop was again facilitated for the benefit of CSI’s ongoing marketing clients.
Highlights of the seminar include the sharing of one of our staff member’s experience with the U.S. workforce and the reality about foreign workers. In addition, the announcement of another green card approval caused the assembly to be filled with cheers for our client and hope for their own American dream: Miss A. Makasakit with an approved position of Controller; approved EB2 of less than 2 years; under an amazing 245k process. This on-the-spot and rather surprising and victorious episode was followed by a live and heartfelt testimonial from the said client–what a way to mark another successful and fulfilling event! We had asked the client, “When would you like to visit your family back home?” Her response, “Not very soon, my priority is to save for my future and, sacrifice a bit more for my family; back home.” We handed her approval in a simple fed-ex envelope! She was filled with tears and gave her impromptu speech.
While it is a known fact that every year, millions of immigrants go to the United States in search of better futures or the “American Dream”, the whole process of leaving home for the U.S., finding a new place, adapting to new cultures, looking for work and so on—is not an easy journey. However, it is a learning process which is rewarding in the end, when all sacrifices have been realized and had borne fruit. That is why CSI insists in the importance for all immigrant hopefuls to understand, anticipate and adapt to the working environment and culture of the U.S., for a better and smooth journey towards their goal of attaining a valid work authorization or green card.
With this public’s need in mind, CSI continues to provide FREE seminars to carry on its 15 years of exceptional handling of placement and immigration services. In having had countless consultations and dealings with clients, legal counsels and other colleagues in the Employment and Immigration fields, CSI’s Vice-President speaks of the importance, gift and power of communication:
Human communication still mystifies me. With more than a decade of paving ways to successful Employment based petitions and pioneering group workshops and seminars on US Employment and Immigration (and just recently, Canada), I’ve mastered the basic elements of communication, yet I still desire to communicate beyond the surface level. For this to happen, we must grasp and accept that communication in its true essence, is not an ART but a HEART DESIRE!
At the heart of communication lay prayer, truth, wisdom, grace and love–all of which are addressed in this journey to serve others through communication policies and procedures. In the same way that we should speak genuinely, we should also be MINDful of the manner of delivery and content of our message. Different settings or areas in our everyday lives need mindful communication: in the workplace, at home; interpersonal, cultural/intercultural, etc.
Maybe with all these principles, we can have less stressful days at work and in our everyday encounters. We can even be proud to say, Thank God, it’s another opportunity to live and communicate myself positively to others!
Be a gift to others. Communicate with your heart in every place that you go to and with everyone you encounter. It’ll be like a contagious smile. Even with language barriers and defects in human nature, a single thing unites everything and everyone, and makes a message understood. At the end of the day, The HEART binds all and breaks the brick walls of all diversity and human imperfection. NO ONE is exempted from speaking from, and understanding through the greatest communication tool which is the heart, when used for a genuine purpose.
